In and around Santa Ana I spent a couple of beautiful days. The city is the perfect starting point to explore the area with its volcanoes, waterfalls, forests and hot springs by scooter.
Santa Ana is the second-largest city of the country, with ~220,000 inhabitants. It is surrounded by green hills and volcanoes.
It is very popular to rent a scooter in Santa Ana and explore the area. You can do that for example at Ricks Rental (reserve a scooter a few days in advance, he does not have too many). In my opinion, the prettiest part of the ride is between Santa Ana and Ataco via Juayúa.
You can also do the Ruta de las Flores by bus.
